Skin Cancer Surgical Procedures

Skin cancer is on the rise in this country, and as a result, a procedure called Mohs Micrographic Surgery is becoming far more commonplace. Now, Mohs is a technique used to remove skin cancer in the best way to minimize the scarring, to minimize the wound, and also try to find out how aggressive the cancer is. Mohs can be done in one day, and it takes two steps. Under local anesthesia the tumor is removed in stages as the procedure is being performed. As it’s going down, samples are studied to see if the tumor is present. Now the goal is to make sure all cancer is removed. It’s also important to minimize the scar for areas like the eyes, the ears, the nose and the lips. It is clearly one of the best procedures we have out there.
