Spiders frighten
most of us, probably because of the images from the movies, but spider bites
are more common than you might think. With 30,000 species of spiders,
there are more than 50,000 exposures each year in the U.S. The most
common spiders that attack are recluse spiders. Most of the bites occur
in the early morning whenever bed linens, bed clothes, or other garments
squeeze the female spider between fabric and the victim's skin. These
bites cluster, they often lead to ulcers, and they can take weeks to heal.
