There are
difficulties in today's stressful economy and one of the big problems is the
stress after being laid off. Many people have to deal with the problems
associated with that and it can be very difficult. That's one of the
problems with a stressful economy. People sometimes build their identity
in the work they're doing and the jobs they have. When those jobs are
taken away, it is a situation where someone can actually become depressed
because of it.

A Woman’s Sleep Is Essential for Health
Do you get
enough sleep? One of the biggest complaints physicians hear from their female
patients is that they don’t. They’re under stress, they’re under pressure, and
in addition to that, they have the pressures of their spouse. All of these
things come together to make it difficult to sleep and to get that quality
time. It is essential, if you are going to be healthy, that you get the sleep
you need and the rest you need. If you can do that, you have an opportunity to
fight the day’s battles and not feel weakened by them. Sleep is a key tool, a
key weapon in your overall health.

Understanding Loss of Libido
Can a loss of
libido be a normal phenomenon? Absolutely! If you’re someone who’s under stress
and you feel pressure, it is clear that you may not feel interested in sex. You
may not have that desire. That is a normal phenomenon and many women are made
to feel guilty that perhaps they don’t have the desire they used to. The bottom
line is, if someone is fatigued, under stress, feeling unappreciated, they’re
not going to have the libido or the drive they had before. Many of these things
have to be worked out. There is more to sex than just a physical reaction. It’s
psychological as well.

Dealing with Stress Headaches
There are several
kinds of headaches. While many people say they suffer from migraines, the
most common headache is called a stress headache. Causes include stress,
skipping meals, irregular sleep habits, or certain foods. One of the
first things many people do after suffering a headache is reach for a pain
reliever in the medicine cabinet, but that's not always the best idea. In
fact, there are other simple things you can do. Lie down in a dark, quiet
room and try to sleep. Also, try to figure out what led to the headache.
In addition, you should try to avoid things that are problematic and bother
you. One idea is a headache log where you can record when the headache
first appears, the time each one happens, and where the pain is felt. You
get the idea. It's common sense and it's trying to figure out the best
way to approach a problem that can be chronic.

Worrying Too Much
Many people
spend far too much of their time worrying. We worry about our families,
our money, our futures. We even worry about how much we worry. The
health effects of all this worry can be devastating. The stress of worry
can increase our blood pressure, the risk of heart disease, even cancer.
According to the Trust for America's Health, we could be hurting our health by
worrying about our health. Now here are their statistics, statistics that
are being looked at looked at very seriously by the American Medical
Association. Thirty-seven percent of people worry about cancer as their
top health concern, 14% heart disease, 13% obesity, and 11% chemical
terrorism. Worry is appropriate in small doses. It can help us
anticipate problems down the line. But let's face it, you don't want
to overdo it.

Causes of Back Pain
Back pain may be
one of the most common health concerns around the world. It’s ranked number
two, and it can be caused by a wide variety of problems. It can be from stress;
it can be from over exercise; it could be from the fact that you are basically
in a situation where you’re not taking the necessary medications you should to
control it. All of those things come together. If you have back problems, get
yourself evaluated…a functional evaluation…to find out what may in fact be
leading to the difficulty, and then you can deal with it and take it from there.

Pressure and Stress Can Influence Allergies
Can pressure
lead to allergic symptoms? It’s a very interesting concept. If you’re under
pressure at work, and feel that there’s a great deal of stress on you, it,
actually, can cause your immune system to work extra hard. There’s a theory out
there that people under pressure actually begin to have more and more problems
with their allergies. It’s a concept that’s very interesting, but experts do find it
somewhat true that when people are under pressure, they have that difficulty
and it’s a difficulty that’s often tough to control.

Kids Can Be Affected by the Economy
Kids can be
affected by the economy especially if parents talk about it. With things
going bad financially, parents need to be honest with their children, but not
over stress them. The kids do not need to know if there are major issues
and problems. They need to be able to realistically look at things and
evaluate what's going on. It's important when it comes to the economy
that you don't overdo it; that you don't try to get into a situation where you
stress those children out. It's very important that they have a chance to
be children and to really live as kids.

Helping Kids with Teen Angst
It is called
teen angst and there is no doubt that teenagers have a lot more stress, or at
least what they perceive as stress. But if you look at the reality, it is
a tough time to be a teenager. There are many issues that teenagers face
that really have to be dealt with psychologically. Communication with
parents can be key. It's difficult as a parent, but if you can try to
communicate with your teenager, you're going to help them through many of these
times. Teens are searching for your guidance.

Stress Can Take a Toll on Your Health
There are many
causes of stress out there. Today, primarily it's the job market and the
economic battles people face every day. Of course, these pressures could
also impact marriage. If you're in one of those marriages where you can't
get through the day without fighting with your spouse, continued research by
Ohio State researchers suggests it could be taking a toll on your health.
Couples who fight on a regular basis have elevated stress levels that affect
their bodies' wound healing capacity. Of course, stress affects us
whether we are married or not. Repetitive stress can take its toll.

Relaxation Techniques Can Protect Against Stress
There is no
doubt that stress plays a major role in all of our lives. Stress can
actually have a major impact and our body's reaction to it is not necessarily
always a bad thing. If you think about our development as a species, we use
stress and the 'fight or flight' response to ward off predators to stay
alive. Of course, when the predators are a fear of losing a job or
failing a test of some sort, that same mechanism of dealing with stress can be
a problem. That's why relaxation techniques like meditation can
help. According to a report in the International Journal of
Psychophysiology, meditation might help protect college students against stress
and improve their ability to learn. It makes sense and during the formal
study, students who meditated showed positive results on brain studies
including greater breadth of planning, thinking, and perception of the
environment.

Women Feel the Stress of Household Duties and Work
According to a
report in the British Food Journal, three-quarters of British women still do
most of the household food shopping and cooking. The study can be duplicated
here in the United States where food shopping and other household duties are
part of the everyday demands, and this is the case whether a woman has a
full-time job or not. It brings up a growing health issue for
women. Many women feel tremendous stress trying to do multiple jobs and
ultimately feeling that they are not succeeding. They believe they’re not
doing anything quite well. The bottom line is women need to have
realistic goals and understand that many jobs, especially things you do at
home, are almost never successfully completed. It is important to keep
things in perspective and not to be too tough on yourself. From a
psychological standpoint, and a standpoint of dealing with stress, these issues
are important and really need to be looked at.

The Stress Hormone Cortisol Can Affect Your Health
At the turn of
the 19th century, a book was written by a physician trained at that time with
the best medical knowledge it could offer. A key part of the book was a
concept; it was a concept that happiness and the ability to give to others and
live in harmony could lead to a long and healthy life. At the time, they
did not know about hormones like Cortisol, the stress hormone, but as we look
at the complex relationship between our brain and our body, it's becoming abundantly
clear that the words written over a hundred years ago are true. We
definitely do not thrive under negative energy and stress and excessive Cortisol
levels can raise blood pressure and add increasing levels of anxiety.
Long-term wear and tear can clearly take its toll and we can measure a direct
relationship between hormone release and cardiac changes. The doctors of
that day used physical exams and observations to make their conclusions, and it
worked in many cases.

Stress Affects Your Health
You can’t
underestimate the role of stress. Stress can lead to high blood pressure. It
can actually lead to severe heart problems and problems down the road. It can
affect your health. If you’re dealing with stress, take the opportunity to try
to find ways to reduce the pressure. To try to kind of cut back on it. Stress
is something, a situation, where when you feel the tension, it can affect
hormones in the body and cause what we call a catecholamine surge. That is not
good if it’s on a consistent basis.

Daily Pressures and Anxiety
All of us face
anxiety but for some women it can be a particularly serious problem; especially
if it causes what we call emotional paralysis. Some people become so tense and
so anxious about the pressures of daily life that they aren’t able to seriously
evaluate the pros and cons of certain things, and they ultimately don’t make
any decision. There are medications for anxiety. If you find that you are under
the continuous strain of anxious feelings and anxiety, check with your doctor.

Women Are Under More Stress Than Ever
There's no doubt
that all of us experienced stress throughout the centuries of the world.
Sometimes stress is worse than other times, but there is no doubt that women
are facing new and aggressive forms of stress. The stress they are facing
is often from trying to work, maintaining a home life, and trying to deal with
the pressures of both. There is the stress associated with the fact that
there are pressures at work that were not seen before. The economy is an
issue. All of these things are stress which indicates that women need to
take the time to rest and deal with it.

Can Stress Cause Pain?
Can stress cause
pain? Well, believe it or not, it can. If you’re a high stress individual, what
can happen is the fact that you can tighten up and you can actually put stress
on your joints because of the fact that you are so tight. That tightening up
actually can cause spasm of the muscles and extra pressure. What doctors often
tell people to do is take a deep breath, think of something that’s pleasurable,
perhaps sitting on the beach or snowboarding, something you enjoy, and relax.
Feel how that muscle relaxation hits your body.

Seasonal Affective Disorder Can Be an Issue During the Winter Months
Some months are
tougher to deal with than others. Sometimes when we go through those
winter months, we realize that seasonal affective disorder is an issue.
There's the fact that the days are short, sunlight exposure is quite limited,
and you also have issues such as holidays and psychological stress that occur
during those months. So, if you're dealing with those issues and then you
combine it with some women's health issues such as hormonal variation, it can
be very dramatic and very frustrating to deal with.
We always
appreciate your comments and suggestions.
