When you look at
formula for babies, you have to understand that certain formulas for babies can
cause difficulties. Usually, though, what doctors do if someone is
allergic is physicians actually look at a soy formula because soy formula is
one of the ones that is the easiest to tolerate. Doctors often say that
if children are having problems beyond the soy formula, then they need to get
it checked out and evaluated by the pediatrician. What you don't want to
have a child do is have severe diarrhea which is uncontrolled.

Causes of Throat Pain
Throat pain is a
problem if you’re someone who is using your voice on a regular basis,
especially as you go through allergy season. Throat pain isn’t always a strep
infection, it isn’t always pharyngitis. It can be a result of postnasal drip
from the sinuses being congested. You get that fluid going in the back of your
throat, and that actually can lead to discomfort and pain. There are many
things that throat pain can be attributed to. Try to look into the throat and
understand the cause.

Pressure and Stress Can Influence Allergies
Can pressure
lead to allergic symptoms? It’s a very interesting concept. If you’re under
pressure at work, and feel that there’s a great deal of stress on you, it,
actually, can cause your immune system to work extra hard. There’s a theory out
there that people under pressure actually begin to have more and more problems
with their allergies. It’s a concept that’s very interesting, but experts do find it
somewhat true that when people are under pressure, they have that difficulty
and it’s a difficulty that’s often tough to control.

Allergies May Be Linked to Depression
There is disturbing news from the University of Maryland. Researchers have found that seasonal allergies might be associated with mood disorders, including depression. We've long recognized the association between seasonal allergies and fatigue. The latest report echoes what scientists found in 1999. Back then, a study of 7,000 patients found people with hay fever were twice as likely to be diagnosed with major depression. Why’s this the case? Well, the latest theory is very technical. According to researchers at the Association of Allergies and Scientific Analysis of Allergies, chemicals called cytokines are released in the nose during an allergic reaction. This activates a chemical called indolamine 2, 3-dioxygenase that slows down serotonin production. It's a chemical in the brain that is linked to depression.

Reducing Dust in the Home
You know that
you could have a major allergic offender in your house and not even know it?
We’re talking about dust. We all have dust in our homes, and guess what? Dust
can contribute to allergies. Many people don’t realize it, but it can be a
major issue. What can you do about dust? Well, you can’t eliminate it totally,
but you can have dust-free havens in your home. You can have hardwood floor,
you can cover cloth materials with plastic covering, and you can also have an
air purifier. All those things can cause and have a dust-free haven.

Ragweed and Oral Allergy Syndrome
It is called
oral allergy syndrome and there is an obvious culprit that starts to bloom in
mid-August. It’s every year, and even though we’re far away from it in
December, it happens again and again. It’s called ragweed. There are 36 million
people who suffer from ragweed allergy, but a significant percentage of these
sufferers also have what used to be called pollen food syndrome. It’s now known
as oral allergies syndrome. It’s due to a cross reactivity between ragweed and
similar proteins that are found in various fresh fruits and vegetables. The
classic symptoms include itchiness, tingling, or swelling of the mouth. It can
also affect the tongue and the throat. One of the keys is that it happens
immediately after eating fresh fruit, vegetables and other foods. Some of the
common foods interacting with ragweed are banana, cucumber, zucchini, and melon.

Evaluating Medication Allergies
There are many
people who have allergies to different medications, and these medication
allergies can be frustrating to deal with. Sometimes there’s a medication
allergy that is made worse by another medicine you’re taking at the same time.
This process of synergy actually can be a very difficult process when physicians
are trying, as detectives in medicine, to try to figure out what’s causing the
allergic symptoms. Medication allergies, linked with others, have to be treated
seriously. You really have to evaluate it and try to find out what’s going on.

Medication Errors Often Confused with Allergies
One of the
things that doctors find often gets confused with allergy is what they call a
medication error. A medication has been given to a patient and it’s not given at
the right dosage or it’s not the right medication. When that happens, people
can actually get a reaction. That reaction is often confused and can look like
it’s an allergic reaction. It’s very important if you’re on medications and
you’re starting to feel strange, that you look at the medication as a potential
cause of a possible problem.

Growing Asthma Problem
More and more
people are suffering from asthma. It clearly is a growing problem, and one of
the reasons doctors think so is more and more people are suffering from various
allergies. Now, physicians and researchers haven’t been able to figure out why
allergies are bothering more people than ever, but doctors do know the symptoms
of asthma, such as difficulty breathing, wheezing, having trouble getting your
breath, difficulties in the cold. Those sorts of things are things that can be
treated with medications prior to the attacks. Learn all you can about asthma
medications.

Epipens for Severe Allergic Reactions
If you’re
someone who suffers from allergies, severe allergies like peanut allergies, nut
allergies, and bee sting allergies to name a few, you should have epinephrine
on hand. Epinephrine actually can stop that allergic reaction. It can actually
protect you, but you’ve got to get to it fast. There are things called Epipens.
The epinephrine pens actually are easily injectable. They’ll teach you how to
use them at the doctor’s office. It is strongly recommended that if you have a
child with allergies, or you have problems, talk with your doctor about it.
Have that in tow because when you need it, you have to have it there.

Seafood Allergies
Seafood
allergies are very annoying. The reason they’re very annoying is because they
can actually creep up on a person and cause problems. The thing about a seafood
allergy that’s very important is that it doesn’t start necessarily with that
quick of a reaction. You might have a little discomfort, you might have a
little stomach issue or something like that, and over time, seafood allergy
starts to become more serious. When it’s serious, it can be very difficult to
deal.

What Is Animal Dander?
It’s a word that
nobody uses, but it means a lot in medical circles. It’s animal dander. Animal
dander is basically what doctors would call the dandruff that people have. It’s
what the cat or dog puts off into space. Whether or not it’s hair, fur, or skin
particles, that dander can cause definite reactions in people. That’s usually
where you see the allergies in people who suffer from allergies. It is the
animal dander.

Reactions to Skin Care Products
There are
numerous skincare products out there, and many of them are quite effective at
what they do. However, they also often have scents or perfumes or dyes; things
to make them more likely to be sold and more palatable. When that happens, some
people have reactions. If you’re using a new skincare product and you notice
you’re getting itchy or red skin, it is probably that product. Try some time
without it, see of the symptoms go away. If they do, I would avoid that
product. Try to understand what’s in it so you can decrease the problems.

allergy, actually, can become a problem that can be even life-threatening. Now,
initially, people who have problems with seafood, actually, suffer difficulties
which are more like stomach irritation, diarrhea, vomiting. But as the seafood
allergy worsens, and as the symptoms start to get worse, what invariable
happens is people start to have hives and even anaphylactic reactions.

Some People are Allergic to Christmas Trees
We’re in the
holiday season, and if you’re going to have a Christmas tree, be aware that a
certain percentage of people actually are allergic to Christmas trees. This
might sound crazy, but people actually have an allergy to Christmas trees, and
they will find, each year, that they get nasal stuffiness, they feel congested,
and it’s all about that time. It’s very important if you have Christmas tree
allergy to recognize it. Obviously, you can get an artificial tree, or you can
just be careful about being in the room where the tree is and minimizing your
exposure as much as you possibly can.

What is the Role of Benadryl?
Just what is the
role of Benadryl when it comes to allergies? Benadryl has a lot of advantages.
The drug is very good to be used to reduce the problems associated with allergy;
the itching, the runny eyes, the redness, all of those things. But, one of the
problems of Benadryl is that it can lead to drowsiness and the higher the dose
you take of Benadryl, the greater the problem. That is the limiting factor.
Also, Benadryl can be converted with calamine lotion. That combination,
actually called Caladryl, can be effective in dealing with poison ivy.

Wheal and Flare of Allergy Symptoms
One of the
classic symptoms associated with an allergy is the “wheal and flare.” It’s the “wheal
and flare” that actually is the sign that there’s something there bothering the
skin. Relax…that’s okay. It means that our bodies are actually fighting back in
some way, and our bodies are making some sort of reaction. Wheal and flare is
nothing to be frightened of. It’s certainly just part of a normal reaction in
the body where we see an offending agent, and we somehow aggressively try to
attack it.

Allergies To Penicillin
It’s a drug that
seems to have been around forever but it’s actually since the mid-1900s. We’re
talking about penicillin. Penicillin is a very effective antibiotic that’s
still used in many cases, however, it’s usually a variant form of penicillin. It
is an antibiotic, though, that does have some allergic reactions to it. Many
people will tell doctors that penicillin is one of their allergies and that
means doctors have to be very careful about drugs that are similar to it.

Jewelry and Nickel Allergies
Nickel allergy
is one of those things that we don’t see a lot of. Obviously, people aren’t
putting nickel and holding it to their skin. However, some jewelry actually has
nickel as a part of it, and the jewelry that does, actually, can cause problems
with allergies. One of the things with people who have nickel allergy is to
make sure they check their jewelry and see what it’s made of. Sometimes, it’s
very impossible. You’re obviously not going to melt it down, but what you need
to do is figure out if it’s a constituent by whether it causes irritation or
not. Then you have to look into it.

People Can Be Allergic to Sunlight
There are rare
people who are allergic to sunlight. Again, this is a very rare case, but it’s
something that is worth mentioning. Some people are allergic to sunlight in the
sense that they’re more likely to burn. But, in cases where there are severe
sunlight problems, people can actually have DNA issues associated with it. On a
more simple level, however, if you’re someone who goes out in the sun and gets
burned regularly, you may not have an allergy. You may just have a sensitivity,
but down the road, that can cause long-term skin damage.

appreciate your comments.
