It is estimated
that 2% to 45% of the population can experience it, and the numbers may
surprise you. Obsessive compulsive disorder is a major psychiatric
problem where people have recurrent or persistent, thoughts, impulses, or
images they find distressing and they have compulsions in response to the
obsessions. The reason for such a high upper end, 45%, is that it usually
doesn't occur all the time in people. It occurs in short periods and
people experience it transiently. Nevertheless, it is something you
should be thinking of and it is a concern.
