There was a time
when many health professionals did not take premenstrual syndrome, or PMS,
seriously. Fortunately, those days are gone and there is medical agreement that
PMS affects many women just before their menstrual cycles. Common symptoms
include cramps, bloating, fatigue, and moodiness. For some women, the symptoms
can be severe and medication is necessary, but for others, certain lifestyle
measures can make a big difference. The U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services actually has reviewed studies and came up with the following
suggestions including getting regular exercise, eating plenty of fruits,
vegetables and whole grains, and avoiding foods high in salt, sugar, caffeine,
and alcohol. Another big step is to get plenty of sleep. That can make a major
difference. The key, of course, is to figure out what you’re doing and to try
to make sure you get the attention.

Treatment for PMS
PMS, or
Premenstrual Syndrome, used to be something that was taken lightly. It was not
taken seriously. It was considered quote on quote ‘in a woman’s mind.’ Well,
studies have shown, and time has shown, that this is a real problem and it can
respond to treatment. One of the most effective treatments for PMS actually is
to try and find out in the cycle what’s going on, and give medications that can
affect hormones. Antidepressant medications can help in severe cases. There are
certain ones, the SSRIs, that are very effective.

Recognizing PMS
PMS, or
premenstrual syndrome, used to be ignored. Obviously, that is not the case
anymore. It’s quite obvious now that it’s recognized as well as it should be.
The important thing to realize about PMS is it does occur in a cyclical nature.
That may be the greatest way we have to recognize the problems and to evaluate
them. If we can do that, we can take big strides in not only treating the
problem, but in helping people deal with the symptoms which are very tough on
women.

appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Don’t Suffer Alone With PMS Pain
PMS. It is a
source of pain. It’s a source of pain that often, unfortunately, goes
undiagnosed. Women can be embarrassed to talk about it, or in fact, it may be
ignored when they go to the doctor. PMS occurs the same time every month.
That’s why we know, during that pre-menstrual period, it can be an issue. There
are treatments for PMS. In fact, there are medications for severe PMS. You
should talk to our doctor, and make sure you get some sort of evaluation so
that it can be dealt with and treated effectively.

Early Symptoms of PMS in Girls
You know, PMS
can occur and it can occur even before a child has a period. That’s because
there are times where the egg is being released, and during that period of
time, you actually can have symptoms and issues surrounding it. Premenstrual
syndrome is a major issue, obviously, as women get older, and some have it
worse than others, but if you notice that your child has mood swings, or they
have issues at a certain time of the month, try to clock it. You may find that
they’re in the early stages, before they are actually menstruating, where
they’re having some of these changes.
